Welcome Message from Australasian Stroke Academy |
The Australasian Stroke Academy is delighted to partner with the Korean Stroke Society in our first joint stroke congress in Seoul. The Australasian Stroke Academy was set up 4 years ago with its aims being to foster research and to provide state of the art education to early career stroke physicians. Although Korea has twice the population of Australia, there are many similarities. Stroke research and management are advanced in both countries on the global stage, with integrated stroke networks and considerable expertise in endovascular thrombectomy. Academic stroke medicine is also vibrant in both countries and the friendships and collaborations that will emerge from this meeting are likely to provide more synergies. We see great opportunities for joint clinical trials to answer some of the burning questions in stroke. Some of our interests include endovascular direct thrombectomy, use of tranexamic acid for sub-2 hour intracerebral hemorrhage and the use of tenecteplase at late ischemic time windows with advanced imaging. This will be an exciting congress with a program focussed on the new developments and hot topics in stroke. Finally, we greatly look forward to a great meeting with good friends, enjoying some delicious Korean food and a great congress atmosphere in your dynamic capital city, Seoul. |
